M-Tek15 15 round standard size double stack 22lr magazine for the Tikka T1x rifle.

Tikkas are excellent rifles. Like most rimfire rifles they come with a single stack magazine. However, the magazine well is wide enough for a double stack magazine.

After going through more than 50 iterations we were able to design a double stacked rimfire 22lr magazine that is well suited for 3D printing and feeds reliably.

The magazine is about the same size as the original factory magazine despite having a capacity of 15 rounds!

If +5 rounds is all you need then this is the magazine for you, it’s an excellent general purpose magazine.

The magazine has a viewing holes on the side in five round increments so you can quickly see how many you have loaded.

Best Magazine Loading Method for Optimal Reliability

Why do I need an extended magazine on a bolt action rifle?

Before designing these magazines I would have asked the same question. However, after having used these magazines a fair bit I’ve found them to be quite handy.

For example when it’s cold outside (often is in Finland) you don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to reload tiny 22lr cartridges into magazines with your frozen fingers. Instead, bring a couple of extended magazines with you and you’ll shoot for the whole range trip without having to reload any magazines!

Besides that, if you’ve got a lot of targets set up, it’s a lot of fun to just plink away with inexpensive 22lr ammunition. Not having to change magazines as often certainly adds to the fun!

Durability

All of our magazines are 3D printed from polycarbonate (PC) which is a tough and durable engineering filament. It has a high impact resistance, very high strength and can resist temperatures in excess of 100 °C.

The magazine body has thick feed lips and walls and features a ribbed design that offers extra rigidity.

We have had no durability issues in all of our testing and use of these magazines. We have cycled over a 1000 rounds through a magazine and seen no wear on the feed lips. The low friction nature and high wear resistance of PC plastic that these are made out of helps with that.

While we don’t recommend it we have drop tested these on all sorts of surfaces including concrete and haven’t had a single one break.

If all else fails all Masiinatek products come with a five year warranty for any breakages occurring from normal usage.

Maintenance (every 500 rounds or when necessary)

  • Disassemble the magazine and wipe dirt off with a cloth or a paper towel.
  • In our experience normal bearing grease, ie. lithium grease works best. Silicones, oils, and even some PTFE dry lubricants tend to gum up the magazine.
  • Apply a light coat of grease on the front and rear surfaces of the follower.

Made in Finland.

  1. Carl Larsson (verified owner)

It works great, no feeding problems.
The finish even though they are 3d printed the finish is really good.

Ive shot 150 rounds through my magasine so far.

    Will order another.

  2. Feeding issues (verified owner)

I ordered two of these. One works flawlessly, but the other has a spring issue that won’t allow the rounds to feed. I’m very disappointed. Especially because the other one works so well.

    This is a great magazine.
Works like a clock in my rifle.
    Will order more.

  4. Jamie (verified owner)

My very first round hung up for some reason, but it has been running flawlessly ever since. The best part is that the mag is the same size as the tikka branded 10 round mag.
